This collection, In Plain Sight, presents works by women composers who were active, recognized, and often celebrated in their own time, with their music performed and published alongside that of their male contemporaries. Rather than reframing or advocating a particular argument, the album focuses on attentive listening and rediscovery, offering performances shaped by genuine artistic curiosity. Some of the repertoire appears in commercial recordings for the first time, highlighting its relative rarity in modern programming. The composers featured were connected to major musical circles, including those of Mozart, Haydn, Liszt, and Grieg, and their works are presented here as fully formed artistic statements of comparable quality and significance.
Joanna Kacperek is an internationally active pianist known for her versatility as both a soloist and collaborative musician, with performances across Europe, Canada, and Japan. She has appeared with ensembles such as the National Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra in Warsaw and the Lviv Virtuosos Chamber Orchestra, and has earned recognition in numerous international competitions, including awards in Bergen, London, and Paris. Her debut solo album Variations (2024) received critical acclaim and media attention, including broadcasts on Polish Radio Programme 2. A graduate of the Royal College of Music, London and the Chopin University of Music, she is also an accomplished chamber musician, performing widely with her Lied duo partner across major European festivals and concert series.
