Italian composer Eugenio Visnoviz (1906–1931) belongs to a generation of early twentieth-century artists whose promising careers were cut short by untimely tragedy. Despite a small surviving output, a new recording by violinist Valentina Danelon and pianist Cristina Santin brings his striking musical sensitivity to light. Discovered within the archives of the Tartini Conservatory in Trieste, the program features his expansive, four-movement Violin Sonata—written at just seventeen—which blends a late-Romantic spirit with elements of Beethoven, Mendelssohn, and Brahms. This dramatic work is paired with his Klavierstücke, a series of concise, intimate piano aphorisms that masterfully juxtapose introspective lyricism with bold harmonic textures.
Born in 1985, Italian violinist Valentina Danelon graduated with honors from the Castelfranco Veneto Conservatory before earning an advanced degree in Music Pedagogy from the University of Music of Lugano. An avid chamber musician, she also graduated with honors from the International Chamber Music School of Trio di Trieste. Danelon has won numerous international competitions and toured extensively across Europe, Asia, and the Americas as both a soloist and ensemble player. She collaborates with prestigious orchestras, including the Gran Teatro La Fenice and the RAI National Symphony Orchestra, under world-renowned conductors. Currently, she co-directs the International Music Festival Nei suoni dei luoghi and leads various active chamber music partnerships.
Born in Trieste, pianist Cristina Santin graduated summa cum laude with a special mention from the Conservatoire "G. Tartini," later completing advanced studies in Munich under the Duo Tal-Groethuysen. An acclaimed soloist and chamber musician with over 300 performances worldwide, she has collaborated with renowned artists such as Stefan Milenkovich, Ziyu He, and Emmanuele Baldini. Santin has won numerous international prizes, debuted as an orchestral soloist in 1997, and participated in various theatrical productions and broadcast recordings. Additionally, she holds a degree in musicology and teaches at the United World College Adriatic.
