Born in Bath to a tailor, pianist Jane Mary Guest (1762–1846) rose to prominence as a celebrated virtuosa, eventually studying under J.C. Bach and securing the patronage of the British Royal Family. This world-premiere recording introduces her previously unrecorded keyboard sonatas with violin accompaniment, a collection originally dedicated to Queen Charlotte. Performed on period instruments by two prominent figures from the American early music scene, this release revives the unjustly forgotten composer's work. The performance vividly captures the distinctive grace, wit, and sparkle that defined Guest’s historical musical contributions.
Pianist and fortepianist Yi-heng Yang holds a doctorate from The Juilliard School, where she studied under Veda Kaplinsky, Robert McDonald, and Julian Martin, alongside fortepiano training with Stanley Hoogland at the Amsterdam Conservatory. Recipient of the Harvey Fellowship and Huygens Award, she serves on the Juilliard faculty and directs the Academy for Fortepiano Performance. Renowned for period-instrument collaborations, her notable recordings include Where Only Stars Can Hear Us with tenor Karim Sulayman and innovative historical performance projects with international artists. Yang maintains an active global presence, appearing at premier festivals like the Boston Early Music Festival and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Violinist Aisslinn Nosky is internationally acclaimed for her innovative interpretations, technical mastery, and passionate leadership in early music. Recognized as a formidable musician by The New York Times and The Toronto Star, she frequently collaborates as a soloist and director with prominent ensembles worldwide, including the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and the New World Symphony. Nosky was a core member of the Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra and later became concertmaster of Boston's historic Handel and Haydn Society, with whom she recorded the complete Haydn and Mozart violin concerti. Additionally, she is a dedicated educator, teaching at major institutions like the Juilliard School and the New England Conservatory.
