With his debut DG China album, Mist Without, pianist and poet Xiaofu Ju presents a deeply immersive, concept-driven recital that introduces a distinctive new artistic voice. Drawing inspiration from the German concept of Weltschmerz and the evocative spirit of Chinese Misty Poetry, the album favors subtle suggestion over direct expression. Conceived as a continuous, one-sitting experience, the program guides listeners through a rich emotional landscape of mist, night, and mourning toward a final moment of lucid stillness. By seamlessly blending music, text, and poetry, Ju crafts a unified and hauntingly evocative listening journey.

Xiaofu Ju is a distinguished pianist and poet who holds degrees from The Juilliard School and is pursuing a Soloklasse diploma in Hannover. An exclusive Deutsche Grammophon China artist supported by the Lieven International Piano Foundation, he has performed at legendary venues like Carnegie Hall and the Berliner Philharmoniker, collaborating with major global orchestras and conductors since his debut at age 14. Awarded the Tabor Piano Prize at the Verbier Festival, Ju is a passionate advocate for contemporary music, having premiered works by Philip Glass and Messiaen. Also an accomplished writer, he has published two acclaimed poetry collections.
