Anthony Hopkins, born in Wales in 1937, is an acclaimed actor renowned for his ability to convey profound emotion with subtle precision. After joining London’s National Theatre in 1965 and starring in classic Shakespearean roles, he earned broad recognition on Broadway in Equus and won an Emmy Award for the television film The Bunker. Hopkins achieved iconic cinematic status and an Academy Award for his performance as Hannibal Lecter in The Silence of the Lambs, a role he reprised in two sequels. His distinguished filmography also includes acclaimed performances in The Remains of the Day, Nixon, The Two Popes, and The Father.
