Double Concertos features three works by composer and conductor Eric Nathan, written between 2019 and 2023, that explore the expressive potential of paired solo instruments. Ranging from concertos for violin and clarinet and for two violas to Just a Moment for antiphonal oboes, the album examines spatial placement, memory, and interpersonal connection. Nathan bridges contemporary musical language with historical forms, crafting textures that reflect themes of mentorship, partnership, and loss. Performed by longtime collaborators closely tied to the works' origins, the collection delivers an intimate yet expansive exploration of how two distinct voices converse through timbre and space.

American composer and conductor Eric Nathan (b. 1983) is widely recognized for music of expressive depth, diverse textures, and structural logic. A recipient of the Rome Prize and a Guggenheim Fellowship, Nathan has earned commissions from the Boston Symphony Orchestra, New York Philharmonic, and Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. His multi-faceted catalog ranges from orchestral and interdisciplinary works to chamber music recorded on labels like Naxos, New Focus, and Orchid Classics. Currently serving as Associate Professor of Music at Brown University and Artistic Director of Collage New Music, Nathan continues to receive international performances at major venues including Carnegie Hall and Wigmore Hall.
