On their new GENUIN release, the award-winning piano duo of Ekaterina Zhemaitis and Polina Kulikova explores the intersection of tradition and innovation. The program features the world-premiere recording of Rodion Shchedrin’s "Romantic Duets" alongside works by Igor Stravinsky and Sergey Taneyev that reimagine historical forms through distinct modern perspectives. Formed at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory under Alexander Bonduryansky, the piano duo of Ekaterina Zhemaitis and Polina Kulikova pursued advanced studies at the Folkwang University of the Arts with Evgeny Sinaiski. The internationally acclaimed ensemble has secured top honors at major competitions, including First Prize at both the Bialystok International Piano Duo Competition and the Taneyev Chamber Music Competition. Regularly performing across Europe and the United States at venues like the Moscow Conservatory, the duo recorded their 2025 debut album for Genuin at Leipzig’s Gewandhaus. Their artistic output balances classical masterworks with contemporary premieres and conceptually driven programming.
