First performed in Rome in 1685, Alessandro Scarlatti’s oratorio Il Trionfo della Grazia achieved enduring acclaim, leading to regular revivals over two decades. Preserved across manuscripts in Rome, Modena, and Dresden, the score highlights the 25-year-old composer's remarkable inventiveness and dramatic depth. In this recording, Ensemble Céladon focuses strictly on the original Roman version, omitting Scarlatti’s later revisions to capture the work’s initial freshness. The result is a vibrant, spirited interpretation driven by an acute theatrical sensibility, offering each performer an exceptional showcase for their virtuosity and expressive nuance.

Founded in 1999 by countertenor Paulin Bündgen, Ensemble Céladon has established an international presence, performing across prestigious European venues and festivals. The ensemble redefines early music by blending classical repertoire with modern staging, spatialization, and genre-crossing collaborations alongside artists such as Michael Nyman. Guided by a strong ethos of accessibility, Céladon engages diverse audiences through intimate concert experiences, community outreach, and educational residencies. Supported by a cohesive core of musicians, the group boasts an acclaimed, expanding discography ranging from medieval to contemporary works, securing widespread critical praise and a dedicated global following.
