Violinist and conductor Soojin Han joins the English Chamber Orchestra to juxtapose two iconic seasonal cycles: Antonio Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons and Astor Piazzolla’s Las cuatro estaciones porteñas, presented in Leonid Desyatnikov’s arrangement for violin and string orchestra. This dynamic pairing creates a vibrant dialogue between 18th-century Venetian landscapes and the sensual, modern nightlife of Buenos Aires. Through Desyatnikov’s clever score, playful musical quotations cross-pollinate the centuries, subtly interweaving winter into summer and summer into winter. The performance blurs stylistic boundaries, resulting in an inventive, emotionally charged celebration of nature, time, and contrast across two distinct musical eras.

Korean-born violinist Soojin Han is a celebrated soloist and chamber musician trained at elite institutions, including Oxford University, the Royal Academy of Music, and the Kronberg Academy. After becoming the youngest top prize winner in the history of the Wieniawski International Violin Competition in 2001, she went on to perform with renowned orchestras such as the London Symphony and Seoul Philharmonic across major global venues. Honored as the Korean National Academy of Arts’ Young Artist of the Year in 2023, Han collaborates with musical icons, records for Warner Classics, performs on a 1666 Antonio Stradivari violin, and actively serves in cultural diplomacy and education.
