François-Joseph Gossec (1734–1829) was a remarkably resilient composer whose 95-year life navigated massive political upheaval, maintaining high acclaim across radically shifting French regimes. This enduring vitality is mirrored in his vast output, ranging from revolutionary compositions and sacred monumental works to delicate chamber music and orchestral symphonies. Continuing their celebrated exploration of his repertoire, conductor Simon Gaudenz, an Opus Klassik prize winner for his recording of Gossec's Op. 3, partners once again with the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn. Their latest project focuses on Gossec's Op. 6 symphonies, enriching the string foundation with dual oboes to elevate the music's dynamic depth and expressive power.

Renowned for his vibrant and versatile musical signature, conductor Simon Gaudenz has served as General Music Director of the Jena Philharmonic since 2018, spearheading visionary initiatives such as the acclaimed Mahler–Scartazzini Cycle. A highly sought-after guest conductor, he has collaborated with premier world orchestras, performed at major international festivals, and partnered with distinguished soloists like Igor Levit and Anne Sofie von Otter. Championing contemporary music through numerous world premieres, Gaudenz's career also includes leadership roles with the Odense Symphony Orchestra and Hamburger Camerata.
