Emmanuel Pahud, one of today’s preeminent flautists, demonstrates his extraordinary stylistic versatility in this recording bridging Prokofiev, Toshio Hosokawa, and Christopher Rouse. Moving effortlessly from Prokofiev’s cinematic drama to Hosokawa’s avant-garde spiritualism and Rouse’s poignant structural eulogy, Pahud underscores the shared human narratives within radically diverse musical aesthetics. The project represents another significant milestone in a expansive career that encompasses Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and contemporary repertoires. Through his boundless imaginative range and refined artistry, Pahud affirms his status as a master capable of unifying the core epochs of classical music history into a compelling, cohesive statement.

Emmanuel Pahud (b. 1970) is an internationally acclaimed flautist who joined the Berliner Philharmoniker as Principal Flute at age 22, a position he continues to hold. Alongside his orchestral career, he performs globally as a soloist and chamber musician, collaborating with leading conductors and artists. Pahud co-founded the Salon de Provence Festival and performs regularly with the woodwind ensemble Les Vents Français. An exclusive Warner Classics recording artist, he actively expands the flute repertoire through major contemporary commissions. Pahud’s contributions to music have earned him prestigious international honors, including France's Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and the 2024 Léonie Sonning Music Prize.
