Founded and conducted by Camille Delaforge, period-instrument ensemble Il Caravaggio marks its upcoming tenth anniversary in 2027 by launching a series of recording projects with Alpha Classics. Their debut release for the label presents a deeply passionate exploration of sacred works by Purcell (In Guilty Night / The Witch of Endor), Ferrandini (Il Pianto di Maria), and Charpentier (Le Reniement de saint Pierre). Joined by leading vocalists, the ensemble brings intense emotional resonance and humanity to these timeless narratives, tracing profound spiritual journeys centered on themes of grief, remorse, abandonment, and confrontation with the divine.

Conductor and harpsichordist Camille Delaforge, trained at the Conservatoire de Paris (CNSMD), has emerged as a premier voice in early music and opera. Since her 2024 breakthrough at the Aix-en-Provence Festival, she has guest-conducted internationally, including productions with the Dutch National Opera, Capella Cracoviensis, and her North American debut with the Calgary Philharmonic, while leading Il Caravaggio, the period-instrument ensemble she founded in 2017. Passionate about vocal repertoire, Delaforge collaborates with top soloists, has recorded for major labels like Alpha Classics and Warner, and actively champions music education initiatives for underserved youth globally.
