The American Composers Orchestra (ACO), led by conductor Daniela Candillari, has released Modern Yesterdays digitally via Platoon, featuring live performances captured at New York’s DiMenna Center. The album highlights the world premiere of Carlos Bandera's Materia Prima, an exploration of cosmological origin myths, and new orchestral arrangements of guitarist Kaki King's title work, arranged by D.J. Sparr with King as soloist. Rounding out the program is Carlos Simon's Beethoven-inspired Fate Now Conquers. Marking ACO's fourth collaboration with Platoon, the release reflects the ensemble's ongoing commitment to contemporary American orchestral music that examines time, history, and the human experience.

Daniela Candillari is an acclaimed Serbian-Slovenian conductor, composer, and Principal Conductor of Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, celebrated for her dynamic leadership across core repertoire and bold contemporary works. Highly educated with a Doctorate in Musicology and background as a Fulbright Scholar and TED Fellow, Candillari has commanded major stages worldwide, including the Metropolitan Opera, New York Philharmonic, London Philharmonic, and Chicago Symphony Orchestra. A champion of new music, she has conducted world premieres such as 10 Days in a Madhouse and Grounded, while earning commissions as a composer from leading American orchestras.
