Composed as a deeply personal symphonic journey, The Poem of Life explores the core stages of human existence through a synthesis of Western classical orchestration and Chinese musical sensibilities. The album captures universal milestones, from childhood curiosity and first love to loss and acceptance, by pairing sweeping orchestral arrangements with intimate, lyrical piano passages. Recorded with the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Zhang Liang, the work stands as Chen’s most personal artistic statement. By bridging Eastern and Western traditions, the composition offers a reflective exploration of memory, growth, and the emotional complexity of human experience.

Globally acclaimed composer, pianist, and producer Yu-Peng Chen (b. 1984) is renowned for his richly melodic, genre-bridging scores across film, gaming, and concert halls. A Shanghai Conservatory of Music graduate, Chen earned international fame for his celebrated Genshin Impact soundtrack, amassing billions of streams by fusing Western orchestral traditions with Eastern folk instrumentation. Following landmark film scores and game projects like Where Winds Meet, he became the first Chinese composer signed to Deutsche Grammophon in 2025. Featuring his solo piano alongside the London Philharmonic Orchestra, his signature blend of Eastern and Western influences continues to captivate global audiences.
