In his latest recording, tenor Cyrille Dubois explores Benjamin Britten’s French-language vocal output alongside the Orchestre national de Metz, conducted by David Reiland. A 2023 Gramophone Award winner and Wigmore Hall Artist in Residence, Dubois pairs his luminous, amber-hued tenor with Britten’s refined settings of French poetry and folk traditions. The program highlights the composer’s deep affinity for French culture through three seminal works: the expressive Les Illuminations (Op. 18), the precocious Quatre Chansons françaises, and delicate French folk song arrangements. Supported by the orchestra's sonic elegance, the album bridges British and French musical traditions in a compelling, poetic crossover.

Acclaimed as one of today’s preeminent French tenors, Cyrille Dubois (b. 1984) possesses a flexible timbre and refined musicality that span Baroque masterworks, Classical opera, French opéra-comique, and contemporary music. Trained at the Caen Choir School, the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris, and the Paris Opera's Atelier Lyrique, Dubois performs on prestigious stages across Europe, including La Scala, La Monnaie, Zurich Opera, and the Paris Opera. Passionate about French art song (mélodie) and Lieder, he actively collaborates with the Palazzetto Bru Zane and the CMBV while performing alongside pianist Tristan Raës as Duo Contraste. His extensive discography highlights celebrated recordings of Rameau, Liszt, Britten, and Debussy.
