The Piano Duo Soós-Haag, comprising Swiss artists Adrienne Soós and Ivo Haag, presents a captivating performance of Franz Schubert’s monumental Grand Duo in C Major, D. 812 on the Prospero Classical label. Composed in 1824 at the Esterházy estate, this four-hand masterpiece spans forty minutes and reflects a scale so expansive that Robert Schumann famously characterized it as a piano adaptation of a symphony. The duo expertly navigates its symphonic textures and dramatic contrasts, delivering an expressive, nuanced dialogue across its four movements. Captured in high-resolution 24-bit/96kHz audio, this release offers an immersive listening experience for connoisseurs of the romantic chamber repertoire.

The Hungarian-Swiss piano duo Adrienne Soós and Ivo Haag are acclaimed for their artistic curiosity, exceptional ensemble playing, and dedication to both classical and lesser-known repertoire. Recognized as one of the finest chamber ensembles in Switzerland and beyond, they are praised for their “dreamlike interplay” and deep musical connection. Their work includes major projects such as the complete Brahms symphonies in the composer’s own piano duo version, and the revival of forgotten works like Edward Staempfli’s Concerto for Two Pianos and Strings. With appearances at prestigious festivals and venues, and collaborations with renowned artists, orchestras, and contemporary composers, their performances and recordings have earned international recognition.
