Featuring eight musicians from the Orchestre de chambre de Paris, this album highlights a dynamic dialogue between two chamber masterworks: Johannes Brahms’s mature String Quintet No. 2 and George Enescu’s visionary String Octet, composed when he was just nineteen. Despite originating at contrasting stages of their creators' careers, both works demonstrate remarkable polyphonic richness, texture, and emotional expression, bridging Romantic traditions with twentieth-century innovation. Born from close collaboration and a shared passion for chamber music, these vibrant interpretations capture both the intimacy and symphonic weight of the scores, celebrating an enduring musical kinship and a collective artistic journey.

Founded half a century ago, the Orchestre de chambre de Paris has established itself as one of Europe’s premier chamber ensembles, appointed Thomas Hengelbrock as musical director for the 2024/2025 season. Residing at the Philharmonie de Paris and performing across major Parisian venues and international stages, this Mozart-style orchestra maintains a vast repertoire spanning four centuries. Renowned for its historical interpretations, modern creations, extensive discography, and collaborations with world-class conductors and soloists, the ensemble also champions strong civic initiatives. Through participatory programs, hospital and prison workshops, and specialized educational academies, it actively fosters community connections while nurturing the next generation of musical talent.
