Valued between €14M and €18M, "The Marquis de Corberon" (1726) is one of the final instruments crafted by master luthier Antonio Stradivari. Bequeathed to London's Royal Academy of Music in 1960, the renowned cello has been on continuous loan since 2009 to British cellist Steven Isserlis, who has toured and recorded with it extensively. Marking the instrument’s 300th anniversary in 2026, Hyperion presents a comprehensive 10-CD box set compiling ten of Isserlis’ chamber and concerto recordings. The release features two detailed booklets containing all original album liner notes along with three new essays tracing the cello's history.

British cellist Steven Isserlis (born 1958) is internationally acclaimed for his wide-ranging career as a soloist, chamber musician, educator, author, and broadcaster. He performs with leading orchestras worldwide, curates major chamber music series, and uniquely directs chamber orchestras from the cello. Deeply committed to both historical and contemporary performance, he collaborates with period-instrument ensembles and has premiered significant new works. His award-winning discography spans Bach, Beethoven, Elgar, and beyond. Artistic Director of the Prussia Cove International Musicians Seminar since 1997, Isserlis is also an influential writer and broadcaster, honored with numerous international awards including a CBE.
