In her new recording, violinist Jordan Hadrill challenges historical canons of exclusion by featuring Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges’s Violin Concerto No. 1 in G major, Op. 2/1. Born in Guadeloupe in 1745, Bologne was an 18th-century virtuoso, composer, and conductor whose immense achievements were long sidelined by racial prejudice. Recorded in Vienna alongside the Vienna Classical Players, the performance captures the concerto's technical brilliance, French refinement, and emotional resilience. Inspired by Bologne’s extraordinary life and original artistic voice, Hadrill presents a compelling case for rediscovering overlooked classical figures, offering a passionate statement toward a more inclusive musical heritage.
