Celebrating the 150th anniversary of Manuel de Falla’s birth in 2026, a new programme by conductor Domingo Hindoyan and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra highlights the legacy of arguably Spain’s greatest composer. Widely considered the ultimate musical embodiment of the Spanish spirit, Falla helped elevate his nation into the European classical mainstream following centuries of relative isolation. By synthesizing traditional Iberian flavors with the modern Parisian influences of contemporaries like Debussy, Ravel, and Stravinsky, Falla crafted a vibrant, expressive voice. This commemorative release showcases his colorful, passionate repertoire, notably featuring Francisco Coll’s new orchestration of Falla’s virtuoso piano masterpiece, Fantasía Bética.

Born in 1980 in Caracas, Venezuela, Domingo Hindoyan began as a violinist in El Sistema and the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra before studying conducting in Geneva and assisting Daniel Barenboim at the Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin. Now Chief Conductor of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and former Principal Guest Conductor of the Polish National Radio Symphony, he has released five acclaimed albums with the RLPO, including Verismo and Venezuela! Music from the Americas! (2024). Hindoyan maintains an active international career, conducting major orchestras and operas worldwide, with upcoming engagements at the Wiener Staatsoper, Los Angeles Opera, Paris Opera, and the BBC Symphony Orchestra.
