In a continuing collaboration between Prospero Classical and the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation, a new portrait album highlights Croatian composer Mirela Ivičević, recipient of the Foundation’s 2021 Composer Prize. Featuring four works composed between 2016 and 2024, the album is recorded by the Black Page Orchestra under conductor Friederike Scheunchen. Described by Ivičević as "empathetic sonic fiction," the compositions transform personal memories and reflections on conflict into musical spaces rooted in solidarity. Her pluralistic sound world seamlessly integrates noise, luminous textures, pop culture, electronics, and Balkan folk music, prioritizing meaningful relationships between disparate musical elements over stark contrast.

Born in Split in 1980, Croatian composer Mirela Ivičević explores the subversive potential of sound by recontextualizing everyday media and sonic artifacts. Trained in Zagreb, Vienna, and Graz under mentors including Beat Furrer, she is a co-founder of the Black Page Orchestra, a Viennese ensemble dedicated to radical contemporary music. Now based in Vienna, Ivičević has collaborated with premier groups like Klangforum Wien and earned major honors, including the Erste Bank Composition Prize, the Josip Štolcer Slavenski Prize for her music theater piece PLANET 8, and a DAAD Artists-in-Berlin fellowship.
