ArtChoral, Vol. 9: Canada showcases the extraordinary talents of thirteen Canadian women composers, delivering a vibrant musical portrait of the nation. Performed by the Ensemble ArtChoral, the album weaves cultural diversity, personal memory, identity, and spirituality into a rich contemporary mosaic. Each composition reflects deeply human themes ranging from environmental connection and historical resilience to social engagement and bold creativity. Through emotive a cappella performances, the ensemble transforms complex choral structures into an immersive experience. Ultimately, the release stands as an audacious celebration of the vital contributions, strength, and diverse perspectives shaping Canada's new generation of female choral creators.

Rooted in Québec’s choral tradition for over four decades, Ensemble ArtChoral is an award-winning professional choir directed by two-time JUNO recipient Matthias Maute. Residing at the Maison symphonique, the ensemble performs extensively across Canada and internationally, notably through its acclaimed annual performance of Handel’s Messiah. Since 2020, ArtChoral has demonstrated significant social and artistic commitment by making thousands of professional singer hires, delivering 12,000 door-to-door health concerts to underserved communities, and co-founding initiatives to develop new operas by diverse creators. Currently, the ensemble is executing ART CHORAL, a historic digital library project spanning six centuries of a cappella music.
