Born in Kyoto, Japan, organist, harpsichordist, and fortepianist Yasuko Uyama-Bouvard relocated to France in 1976 after earning her organ diploma from the Tokyo National University of the Arts. She advanced her studies in Paris under renowned pedagogues Édouard Souberbielle, Michel Chapuis, Huguette Dreyfus, and Jos Van Immerseel, ultimately earning two international first prizes for harpsichord and organ. An active soloist and chamber musician, she founded the ensemble Le Salon Viennois in 2006 to highlight historical fortepiano repertoire. Currently, Uyama-Bouvard serves as professor of harpsichord and fortepiano at the Toulouse Conservatory and serves as titular organist for the historic French baroque organ at Saint-Pierre des Chartreux.
