To celebrate its 25th anniversary, the Park Avenue Chamber Symphony—led by acclaimed Mahler interpreter David Bernard—presents a landmark recording of Mahler’s Symphony No. 9. Regarded as Mahler’s final completed symphonic statement, the Ninth reflects deeply on his artistic journey, culminating in a transcendent Adagio that contemplates legacy and mortality. Bernard’s interpretation emphasizes textual clarity and emotional depth, capturing the symphony’s introspection, cultural homage, and contrapuntal mastery. Recorded at the DiMenna Center by Grammy-winning engineers, the album offers an immersive experience, enriched by liner notes from David Patrick Stearns and Bernard’s own essay, along with a photo tribute to the orchestra’s 25-year history.
