In Farasha, French-Egyptian violist Sindy Mohamed weaves Western classical works by Saint-Saëns and Hindemith with Arabic influences, including a new interpretation of Khaled Al Kammar. The album mirrors her artistic evolution, blending cultural traditions while showcasing the viola’s expressive breadth. Mohamed highlights the instrument’s transformation from often-overlooked to a vibrant storyteller capable of bridging styles, eras, and cultures. Supported by pianist Julien Quentin and guest artists Wassim Mukdad (oud) and Serdar Saydan (riq), she offers a rich, cross-cultural soundscape. Farasha stands as both a personal journey of metamorphosis and a reimagining of the viola’s role in global music.
