Our Common Nature: The Podcast is a seven-episode series in which Yo-Yo Ma travels across the United States, making music and meeting people whose lives are deeply intertwined with the natural world. Joined by host Ana González, he explores how culture connects humanity to nature, from the forests of Maine to the mountains of Appalachia and the shores of Hawaii. Accompanying the series is a collection of three new musical recordings featuring collaborations with composers Viktor Orri Árnason, Eric Mingus, and Jennifer Kreisberg, each celebrating the profound relationship between music, culture, and the environment.

Yo-Yo Ma (born October 7, 1955, in Paris) is a French-born American cellist celebrated for his exceptional technique, expressive tone, and wide-ranging collaborations that have broadened classical music’s reach. A child prodigy, he debuted at Carnegie Hall at nine, studied at Juilliard and Harvard, and went on to win the Avery Fisher Prize and over 15 Grammy Awards. Renowned for his interpretations of Bach’s cello suites, he has explored diverse genres from tango and bluegrass to world music through projects like the Silk Road Ensemble. Honored with the Presidential Medal of Freedom and Kennedy Center Honors, Ma continues to champion culture’s power to connect humanity.
