Giovanni Morandi (1777–1856) was a leading figure in nineteenth-century Italian organ music. His life divides into two phases: his early years spent touring Europe with his celebrated opera-singer wife, during which he gained international recognition and friendships with prominent musicians like Rossini; and his later years as a widower in Senigallia, where he lived a modest yet culturally active life. Despite his seclusion, Morandi remained deeply involved in civic, political, and musical affairs, serving as composer, teacher, and organist for various institutions. He frequently played for the Poor Clares’ convent of St Mary Magdalene, composing refined works that enriched their liturgical worship.

Luca Sartore, born in 1988 in Italy’s Veneto region, is an accomplished organist who began serving in the Catholic liturgy at a young age. At 16, he became the titular organist of the historic 1800 G. Callido organ in Cittadella Cathedral, later serving for the Teutonic Order in Alto Adige and the Serassi organ in Albenga Cathedral. Specializing in Baroque and Venetian repertoire, he has performed widely across Europe and South America in prestigious venues such as Paris’s Saint-Sulpice and Salzburg’s Archabbey of St. Peter.
