Asya Fateyeva’s new album offers a fresh musical journey through winter and the Christmas season, featuring a new arrangement of Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker by Wolf Kerschek for saxophone and orchestra, performed with the Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz. The program also includes beloved holiday favorites such as Carol of the Bells and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, recorded in collaboration with the vocal ensemble Niniwe Vocal Art. Blending classical tradition with festive warmth, the album highlights Fateyeva’s expressive artistry and the versatility of the saxophone in a richly atmospheric celebration of the season.

Born in Crimea in 1990, Asya Fateyeva is a classical saxophonist known for her expressive artistry and wide-ranging repertoire, spanning Baroque to contemporary music. A passionate advocate for the saxophone’s place in classical performance, she teaches at the Musikhochschule Münster and was formerly a member of the renowned Alliage Quintet. Fateyeva has won major prizes, including the German Music Competition (2012) and third prize at the Adolphe Sax Competition (2014), as well as the Berenberg Culture Prize (2015). She has performed with leading orchestras such as the Vienna Symphony and Moscow Virtuosi and appears at prominent international festivals.
