Mūza Rubackytė presents a live recording of Krzysztof Penderecki’s Resurrection Concerto with the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra conducted by Keri-Lynn Wilson. Completed in 2006, the work reflects Penderecki’s struggle to write a Polish piano concerto in the shadow of Chopin. Rubackytė, a longtime friend and interpreter of the composer, captures the score’s dramatic power, melodic richness, and spiritual depth—qualities shaped by Penderecki’s experiences of war, faith, and humanism. The album also includes the Ciaccona in memoriam Giovanni Paolo II in its piano version, a moving tribute that bridges tradition and modernity through beauty and remembrance.
Lithuanian pianist Mūza Rubackytė (b. 1955), educated at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory, won major competitions in St. Petersburg, Budapest, and Paris. After joining the Lithuanian resistance, she was denied a passport until 1989. Her international career spans performances across five continents with leading orchestras and conductors. Honored with Lithuania’s Grand Commander's Cross and France’s Legion of Honor, she also received Hungary’s Pro Cultura Hungarica Prize. Founder and artistic director of the Vilnius International Piano Festival, she continues to record and perform extensively, especially Liszt’s works. Her acclaimed recordings include Shostakovich, Beethoven, and Weinberg, earning top European awards and cementing her as a distinguished “Liszt interpret.”
