This album showcases Joaquín Rodrigo’s rich legacy for solo guitar beyond his famous Concierto de Aranjuez. Spanning over sixty years of composition, the works include preludes, dances, nocturnes, and expressive miniatures that reflect Rodrigo’s deep connection to Spain’s musical past. Drawing inspiration from Renaissance lute and vihuela traditions while embracing modern expressivity, these pieces highlight both poetic intimacy and virtuosic flair. Highlights include the vibrant Toccata (1933), the evocative Tres piezas españolas, the atmospheric Junto al Generalife, and the celebrated Invocación y danza—Rodrigo’s homage to Manuel de Falla and one of the twentieth century’s defining works for the guitar.

Giulio Tampalini is an internationally acclaimed Italian guitarist celebrated for his charisma, artistry, and versatility. A Warner Classics artist, he has performed over 2000 concerts worldwide in prestigious venues and won numerous international competitions, including the “Narciso Yepes” and “Andrés Segovia” prizes. His discography exceeds 25 albums, featuring landmark recordings such as Tarrega’s Complete Works, Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez, and Legnani’s Complete Works. Tampalini has collaborated with leading orchestras and ensembles, including the Teatro alla Scala Soloists, and is a professor at the Imola International Academy and Bergamo Conservatory. He plays D’Addario strings on guitars crafted by Philip Woodfield.
