Victor Aviat (1982–2025) was an internationally celebrated oboist, composer, pianist, and conductor, known for his artistry with the Lucerne Festival Orchestra, Orchestra Mozart under Claudio Abbado, and Ivan Fischer’s Budapest Festival Orchestra. Also a painter and poet, he set his own texts to music, creating deeply personal works. This posthumous double album, recorded shortly before his passing on 1 May 2025, pays tribute to his multifaceted talent, featuring Schumann’s pieces for oboe and piano (with Kim Barbier) alongside Aviat’s 17 songs. The accompanying booklet includes illustrations, his paintings, and reflections for young musicians, offering an intimate portrait of his life, creativity, and enduring legacy.
