When Anton Bruckner premiered his Te Deum at the Musikverein in 1886, he called it the “pride of my life,” a rare expression of confidence from a composer known for self-doubt and constant revisions; critics agreed, and the work became one of his most celebrated successes. By contrast, the Mass in F minor, commissioned earlier by the Wiener Hofmusikkapelle, faced resistance, initially deemed “unsingable” and repeatedly revised until 1893 before gaining recognition. Recorded in 2024–2025, this album unites distinguished soloists and an internationally renowned conductor in performances of these two monumental sacred works.

Pablo Heras-Casado (born 1977) is a Spanish conductor. Trained in Granada and later in Alcalá de Henares, he studied conducting with Harry Christophers and Christopher Hogwood. In high demand internationally, he appears with major orchestras including the Philharmonia Orchestra, Staatskapelle Berlin, Münchner Philharmoniker and the NHK Symphony. His extensive discography features acclaimed recordings of Falla, Debussy, Schumann, Bartók and Stravinsky. Also a committed educator, he regularly works with youth ensembles such as the Karajan Akademie, Juilliard and the Joven Orquesta Nacional de España.
