Bohemian Legacy by Trio 258 pays tribute to three generations of Czech composers: Smetana, Dvořák, and Suk, whose works reflect the spirit of Bohemian culture. The program opens with Smetana’s Piano Trio in G minor, a work of profound grief and resilience written after his daughter’s death. Dvořák’s Piano Trio No. 3 in F minor follows, blending folk-inspired lyricism with Germanic structural rigor. Suk’s Elegy in D-flat Major concludes the album with a nostalgic homage to Prague’s cultural heritage. In their interpretation, Trio 258 highlights the role of language, nature, and tradition, offering performances that unite technical refinement with emotional depth and a deep sense of national identity.

Trio 258, formed in 2015 in Amsterdam, brings together pianist Lestari Scholtes, violinist Eduardo Paredes Crespo, and cellist Leonard Besseling. United by a strong chamber music background, the ensemble has performed at major venues including the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Muziekgebouw Eindhoven, TivoliVredenburg, and Opéra National de Bordeaux, as well as prominent festivals across the Netherlands. Regularly featured on national television and NPO Radio 4, the trio continues to refine its artistry under distinguished mentors. Known for its deeply personal and expressive approach, TRIO 258 seeks an intimate, Romantic-inspired sound. Their debut album, The Return (2023), featuring Rachmaninoff, received critical acclaim.
