_____________________

The Amati-Ensemble Berlin is a conductorless string ensemble of eleven musicians that debuted in 1965 at the Berlin High School of Music. Performing standing and inspired by the refined craftsmanship of the Italian violin maker Amati, the group chose not to limit itself to any single composer, style, or period. Instead, it cultivated a diverse repertoire ranging from Bach to contemporary composers, including rarely performed chamber works from the Romantic era to Schoenberg and Shostakovich. Their new digital album, featuring works by Bartók, Stravinsky, and Webern, is released as part of Deutsche Grammophon’s debut series highlighting early recordings of artists who later achieved significant careers.
