Released in February 2026 by Divine Art, this album features Lithuanian pianist Indrė Petrauskaitė performing a selection of Franz Liszt’s celebrated piano transcriptions of songs and arias by Robert Schumann, Richard Wagner, Franz Schubert, and Charles Gounod. These virtuosic works reveal Liszt’s remarkable ability to reinterpret and transform the music of other composers while preserving their expressive essence. Throughout his life, Liszt promoted the music of his contemporaries by arranging their works for piano, the central instrument of domestic music-making in the nineteenth century. Nearly half of his output consists of such arrangements, ranging from faithful transcriptions to imaginative paraphrases, highlighting his enduring legacy as one of history’s greatest musical transcribers.

Lithuanian pianist Indrė Petrauskaitė began studying piano at an early age with her mother before continuing her training at the J. Naujalis Art Gymnasium in Kaunas. She later studied at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre with Prof. Veronika Vitaitė, achieving notable competition successes, including prizes at the Senigalia International Piano Competition in Italy and the M. K. Čiurlionis International Competition in Lithuania. Petrauskaitė continued her studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London, earning postgraduate degrees and the DipRAM. She has performed with major orchestras across Europe and appeared at festivals such as Santander and Oxford Lieder. Now based in London, she combines an active performing career with teaching and recording.
