Marking the 500th anniversary of Palestrina in 2025, HR Recordings commemorates the renowned composer with a dedicated recording of his Ricercari supra li Toni, comprising eight works. Performed by organist Javier Jiménez, the pieces are brought to life on a historic organ built by Tadeo Ortega between 1793 and 1796, located in the Church of Santa Eulalia in Paredes de Nava, Palencia, Spain. This specially priced EP highlights both the richness of Palestrina’s contrapuntal writing and the distinctive character of the historic instrument. The release is exclusively available at NativeDSD from the original Edit Master Source.

Javier Jiménez, a distinguished Spanish organist, studied at the “Ángel Barrios” Conservatory in Granada and earned top honors at the “Joaquín Rodrigo” Conservatory in Valencia under Carlos H. Paterson. He further trained in harpsichord and basso continuo, attending masterclasses with leading international organists. As soloist, accompanist, and ensemble player, he has performed at major festivals across Europe, Latin America, and Africa, including inaugurating the organ of Malabo Cathedral. Founder and director of ensembles and sacred music programs, he also leads the International Organ Series at León Cathedral. A theologian, he is pursuing a doctorate on Bach’s theological-musical aesthetics.
