Following the critical success of her debut album devoted to Gottlieb Muffat, praised by Gramophone for her advocacy, pianist and harpsichordist Alexandra Nepomnyashchaya presents Transformations, her second solo recording for Linn, dedicated to Johann Sebastian Bach. The program highlights Bach as a master of reinvention, showcasing his dynamic transcriptions of concertos by Vivaldi and Marcello, enriched with expanded color and expressive vitality. It also features imaginative reworkings of his own compositions, including the Adagio in G major and Sonata in D minor, alongside pieces adapted from other instruments, such as the Prelude, Fugue and Allegro in E-flat major, and the orchestral-style Italian Concerto.

Russian-born pianist and harpsichordist Alexandra Nepomnyashchaya is widely recognized as both a soloist and chamber musician. A graduate of the Moscow Conservatory, she pursued advanced studies in Amsterdam and Munich, earning top qualifications under distinguished mentors. Prizewinner at the Prague Spring International Competition and the International Johann Sebastian Bach Competition Leipzig, she performs at major venues and festivals across Europe, Russia, and Asia, collaborating with leading orchestras. Alongside her solo career, she forms Duo Pleyel with Richard Egarr, exploring four-hand repertoire and undertaking an acclaimed Beethoven symphony transcription project. A dedicated recording artist and pedagogue in The Hague, she continues to expand a diverse and distinguished artistic profile.
