In their second album devoted to Boccherini, the Karski Quartet joins cellist Raphaël Feye to perform four string quintets, including two world premiere recordings. Written for the distinctive ensemble of two cellos, these works highlight Boccherini’s stylistic richness, blending Mediterranean warmth with the refined elegance of Viennese classicism. The performers bring both historical sensitivity and modern interpretative insight to the music, emphasizing its expressive depth and subtle charm. Through balanced ensemble playing and thoughtful phrasing, the album offers a polished and engaging perspective on Boccherini’s chamber music, illuminating the composer’s originality and the unique sonorities of his favored quintet formation.

The Karski Quartet, named after the Polish World War II resistance hero Jan Karski, is a dynamic ensemble recognized for its passionate, courageous, and deeply sensitive musical approach. Founded in 2018, the quartet has quickly gained international attention for its energetic performances and emotionally rich interpretations, creating strong connections with both dedicated classical audiences and new listeners. They have appeared at numerous venues and festivals across Europe and in Canada, and have collaborated with distinguished musicians including Philippe Graffin, Jean-Claude Vanden Eynden, and Raphael Wallfisch. Their debut album of Boccherini string quintets with cellist Raphaël Feye received international acclaim, and upcoming seasons include new recordings and performances at major venues such as the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and Flagey in Brussels.
