Max Reger (1873–1916), a German composer, pianist, and conductor, bridged late Romanticism and early modernism, drawing inspiration from Bach, Beethoven, and Brahms while cultivating a distinctive contrapuntal and harmonically rich style. Although best known for his organ and chamber works, his piano four-hand compositions reveal a more lyrical and approachable dimension, combining melodic charm with subtle harmonic color and dialogic interplay between performers. This collection includes Walzercapricen Op. 9, Deutsche Tänze Op. 10, 6 Walzer Op. 22, Cinq pièces pittoresques Op. 34, Sechs Burlesken Op. 58, and 6 Stücke Op. 94. The works are performed by acclaimed twin pianists Davide and Daniele Trivella.
Davide and Daniele Trivella are recognized as one of the most compelling piano duos of their generation. Winners of the prestigious Murray Dranoff International Piano Duo Competition in Miami, they have performed widely across Europe, the Americas, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia, earning praise for their originality, precision, and communicative artistry. Their extensive repertoire spans the 18th century to contemporary music, including major works by Messiaen, Ligeti, Stravinsky, and Gershwin, alongside collaborations and premières. They have appeared at leading festivals and on international broadcasts, recorded for Phoenix Classic, and in 2020 founded the 4HANDS Piano Festival, combining performance with composition and innovative programming.
