This album presents the first-ever recording of songs by Swedish composer Moses Pergament (1893–1977), who was born in Finland to a Lithuanian-Jewish family. The selected works set poetry drawn from a wide range of sources and languages, though most texts are in Swedish. The songs explore a broad emotional spectrum, from lively folk-inspired pieces and children’s verses to lyrical reflections on love and loss, as well as profound meditations on suffering and mortality. Many of the poems evoke nature as a vehicle for emotional expression, yet Pergament’s music remains unsentimental, treating each song as a dramatic and dignified miniature. Once performed by leading singers of the twentieth century, this repertoire is now rediscovered through this recording.

Finnish soprano Tuuli Lindeberg is a versatile performer and pedagogue known for her crystal-clear voice and refined musicianship. She is widely regarded as a leading interpreter of Baroque and contemporary vocal music in Finland, collaborating regularly with prominent chamber orchestras and early music ensembles while appearing frequently as a soloist in oratorios and choral works. Lindeberg has performed extensively on Finnish national radio and television and has appeared in works ranging from Handel and Bach to contemporary compositions. Internationally, she collaborates with The Harp Consort and harpist Andrew Lawrence-King, performing across Europe. A graduate of the Sibelius Academy, she also teaches vocal studies with a focus on Baroque performance practice in Helsinki.

Pianist Martin Malmgren is a versatile performer known for his work as a soloist, chamber musician, and lied pianist, with a repertoire spanning from early Baroque to contemporary music. He is particularly recognized for championing neglected composers and creating thoughtfully curated programs that connect different musical styles and periods. As a soloist, he has appeared with numerous orchestras across Europe and collaborated with leading conductors. Malmgren has shown special dedication to the music of Finnish-born composer Moses Pergament, leading to concerts and recordings devoted to his works. A founding member of the Agora Music Collective, he studied at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm and the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki.
