Antonio Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, now a ubiquitous presence in modern life, is revisited in this 2025 recording by the Berliner Barock Solisten and violinist Daishin Kashimoto. The project marks both the 300th anniversary of the work’s publication and the ensemble’s 30th anniversary, highlighting its longstanding connection to these concertos. Emphasizing their inventive Baroque character and vivid imagery, the performers aim to renew appreciation for the music’s expressive depth. The recording also follows a distinguished tradition linked to the Berlin Philharmonic, including landmark interpretations by Herbert von Karajan and Anne-Sophie Mutter.

Daishin Kashimoto (born 1979) is an internationally acclaimed Japanese classical violinist and since 2009 has served as First Concertmaster of the Berlin Philharmonic. He began violin studies at an exceptionally young age and was admitted at seven to the pre-college division of the Juilliard School. He later studied with Zakhar Bron and Rainer Kussmaul, both influential in shaping his artistic development. Kashimoto has performed widely as a soloist with major orchestras worldwide while maintaining an active chamber music career spanning repertoire from Baroque to contemporary works. He is also Artistic Director of the Le Pont Music Festival in Japan and is known for his collaborative versatility and musical leadership.
