This third volume of the Schubert 200 series presents a program performed by baritone Samuel Hasselhorn and pianist Ammiel Bushakevitz, focusing on a renewed sense of vitality in the late Lieder of Franz Schubert. The selection reflects 1826 as a period of creative resurgence following Schubert’s productive summer of 1825, with songs that balance nostalgia, introspection, and emerging confidence. These works convey a poetic world in which emotional depth is paired with subtle optimism, suggesting a form of hope that endures beyond life’s uncertainties. The album highlights Schubert’s evolving expressive language during his final years.
