Hans Huber (1852–1921) was a Swiss composer and educator born in Eppenberg-Wöschnau. Demonstrating early musical talent, he studied at the Leipzig Conservatory before settling in Basel, where he later became director of the conservatory. A prolific composer, Huber produced nine symphonies and several concertos, alongside significant teaching contributions. His works reflect a style influenced by Johannes Brahms, with occasional anticipations of Jean Sibelius. His First Symphony, the “Tellsinfonie,” draws on the legend of William Tell. Huber spent his final years in Minusio and died in Locarno.
Lena-Lisa Wüstendörfer (b. 1983, Zurich) is an internationally active conductor and scholar. She serves as Music Director of the Swiss Orchestra and Artistic Director of Andermatt Music, championing Swiss symphonic repertoire nationally and internationally. A sought-after guest conductor, she collaborates with leading orchestras worldwide. Alongside her performance career, she is an accomplished musicologist, publishing influential studies on interpretation and reception history, including notable work on Gustav Mahler.
