Jinhyung Park, winner of the 2023 Jaén Prize International Piano Competition, presents a program that highlights the expressive breadth of the piano through works by three major 19th-century composers. Brahms’ Handel Variations, originally composed as a gift for Clara Schumann, demonstrates intricate variation technique and rich pianistic invention. Granados’ Los requiebros offers a vibrant, virtuosic reimagining of the Spanish jota, marked by rhythmic vitality and color. Dvořák’s Second Piano Quintet unfolds with expansive lyricism and structural cohesion, capturing the composer’s distinctive melodic voice. Together, these works showcase contrasting national styles and the piano’s wide-ranging expressive possibilities.

Jinhyung Park is a South Korean pianist who began studying piano at the age of five and trained at Yonsei University under Ian Yungwook Yoo before completing his Master’s degree at the Hochschule für Musik in Hannover with Arie Vardi. He made his professional debut in 2009 through the Kumho Prodigy Concert Series and has since performed widely across Europe, North America, and Asia, appearing at festivals such as Prague Spring and in cities including Paris and Bratislava. He has collaborated with numerous leading orchestras internationally and has earned top prizes in major competitions, including Jaén and Čiurlionis, establishing an active international performance career.
