Karol Szymanowski is widely regarded as Poland’s most important composer after Frédéric Chopin. A contemporary of Béla Bartók, Igor Stravinsky, Alexander Scriabin, and Maurice Ravel, his early works reflect late-Romantic influences, while his later style blends impressionism, exoticism, and elements of atonality with Polish folk traditions. His Fourth Symphony, a modern Sinfonia concertante with a prominent piano part, and the Third Symphony, Song of the Night, are considered major orchestral achievements. Like Chopin, he also composed mazurkas inspired by the folk music of Poland’s Tatra highlands.
Szymon Nehring is a highly acclaimed pianist recognized for his exceptional artistry and international success. He gained major recognition by winning First Prize at the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Competition in 2017 and was a finalist at the International Chopin Piano Competition at just 19. Educated in Kraków and at the Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz, he later studied at Yale University. Nehring has performed with leading orchestras worldwide and collaborated with conductors including Krzysztof Penderecki. His recordings, particularly of Frédéric Chopin, have earned critical acclaim, and his ongoing projects further establish him as a leading figure of his generation.
