Isata Kanneh-Mason presents an in-depth exploration of the music of Sergei Prokofiev on this new album, reflecting her long-standing affinity with his repertoire, including her acclaimed 2023 BBC Proms debut performing his Third Piano Concerto at the BBC Proms. Following her previous solo recording dedicated to Mendelssohn, she offers a comprehensive portrait of Prokofiev through original piano works alongside her own piano transcriptions of major ballet scores such as Romeo and Juliet and Cinderella, as well as excerpts from the opera The Love for Three Oranges. The album highlights both the composer’s lyrical depth and rhythmic vitality through a cohesive interpretative vision.

Isata Kanneh-Mason (b. 1996) is a British pianist trained at the Purcell School and the Royal Academy of Music, where she studied under Joanna MacGregor and Carole Presland. She has received major accolades including the Leonard Bernstein Award and an Opus Klassik Award. Her repertoire spans Classical to Romantic and 20th-century works, from Haydn and Mozart to Sergei Prokofiev and Sergei Rachmaninoff. A Decca Classics artist, she has released several albums and performs internationally as both soloist and chamber musician, including collaborations with her brother Sheku Kanneh-Mason.
