The passage recalls a musical evening on August 17, 1722, at Wiesentheid Castle, hosted by Rudolf Franz Erwein von Schönborn. The gathering, which lasted until dawn, featured Italian court musicians sent by the Prince-Bishop of Würzburg, including the distinguished oboist Giovanni Benedetto Platti. Inspired by this occasion, Clara Blessing and her ensemble recreate the spirit of intimate music-making “among friends.” Their program highlights 18th-century masterpieces by Georg Philipp Telemann, George Frideric Handel, Antonio Vivaldi, and Platti, reflecting the rich cultural exchange of the period.

Clara Blessing has established an international reputation as a leading specialist in historical performance practice, particularly on period oboes. Trained at the Folkwang University of the Arts under Christian Schneider and Michael Niesemann, she graduated with distinction and gained early recognition as the first oboist to win a prize at the International Telemann Competition. She performs widely as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral guest, collaborating with artists such as Isabelle Faust and ensembles including Concerto Köln and The English Concert. Alongside her performance career, she is a professor at the University of Music Würzburg and contributes actively to research, teaching, and artistic leadership in early music.
