This production features the world premiere recording of the Requiem by Antonio Gallego, a composer about whom little is known beyond his name preserved in the manuscript E-V5 of Valladolid Cathedral. During the 16th century, composers increasingly created cyclical masses dedicated to funeral rites, reflecting the rise of humanist thought and a deeper artistic engagement with mortality. Over time, literature and visual art also began to express evolving perspectives on human existence and the meaning of death, shaping a richer cultural and spiritual understanding of the requiem tradition.
