This recording, marking the 75th volume of the Vivaldi Edition, is the first collaboration between the naïve label and Les Musiciens du Prince-Monaco, an ensemble founded in 2016 by Cecilia Bartoli and Jean-Louis Grinda. It focuses on Vivaldi’s concerti per vari strumenti, highlighting his inventive approach to instrumental combinations and expressive timbral writing. The selection reflects the composer’s experience at the Ospedale della Pietà and his connections with the Dresden court, both of which shaped his orchestral imagination. Works such as RV 557, RV 555, and RV 553 demonstrate varied scoring and stylistic richness. Under Gianluca Capuano’s direction, the performance is praised for its refined balance, clarity, and elegant interpretation.

Les Musiciens du Prince – Monaco, founded in 2016 at the Monte-Carlo Opera by Cecilia Bartoli in collaboration with Jean-Louis Grinda and with support from the Monegasque princely family, is an orchestra specializing in historically informed performance. Its repertoire spans Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, and Romantic works, from Monteverdi and Vivaldi to Mozart, Rossini, and increasingly Wagner, under principal conductor Gianluca Capuano. The ensemble performs internationally in major venues and at leading festivals such as Salzburg. As it marks its tenth anniversary in 2026, the orchestra continues to expand its artistic projects, recordings, and touring activity, including new Vivaldi releases and filmed productions, reinforcing its growing international profile.
