Ann-Helena Schlüter brings remarkable tonal depth and clarity to Goldberg Variations through the richly expressive Baroque organ of Pilgrimage Church of St. Antonius. Featuring 35 stops across three manuals, the instrument provides exceptional tonal variety well suited to Bach’s “Aria with various changes.” Originally built in 1697 by Franciscan organ builder Adam Oehninger, the organ was carefully restored to its original form after extensive twentieth-century alterations. Its mean-tone temperament and distinctive wind system, powered by electromechanically operated wedge bellows rather than an electric blower, create a vibrant, breathing sound quality that enhances the authenticity and expressive character of this performance.

Ann-Helena Schlüter is a German-Swedish pianist, educator, poet, and scholar born in Nuremberg, Germany, into a distinguished musical family. She began piano studies at the age of four under the guidance of her parents and later trained with prominent professors in Würzburg, Cologne, Detmold, and the United States. Schlüter earned advanced degrees in piano performance, music pedagogy, and musicology, including a Master of Music from Arizona State University School of Music and doctoral studies at Bach-Archiv Leipzig. An internationally active performer, she has appeared across Europe, the United States, Africa, and Israel, winning numerous piano competitions and scholarships. Alongside her concert career, she is also recognized for her teaching, literary work, and recordings, including her acclaimed interpretation of Goldberg Variations.
